Complaint:
I meant to use this to hide away links to things I fall in love with.
Instead I made these shelves based on a picture I saw on Apartment Therapy. I did not save the link, and after two hours searching for it, I realize that it is gone forever.
Boo.
So far this blog is a failure.

Monday, January 5, 2009
Today I started cleaning up the apartment. Rather than trying to get it all done in one evening, I set myself a thirty minute timer and gave myself 30 minutes to clean the kitchen/dining room.
It actually took me 60, but there were a lot of small chores in there that I've been neglecting.
I think I'll try the same approach and clean the guest/hallway tomorrow, bedroom on wednesday, bathrooms on thursday, and living room on friday.
It will either make it easier to move out, or finally get this place in shape. We find out if I get the one-bedroom downstairs on Friday.
See how I said we? It tricks you into thinking you're a part of the adventure.

About about about.
A brand new year, time to be a cliche and turn to the internet to organize my thoughts and ideas until I become a shinier better person.
My biggest goal is to organize my apartment. Or move out of my apartment and organize a new shinier apartment. Or at least that's the goal that will probably dominate this blog, since it's a slow expensive process that means filtering through every cheap furniture site known to man for ideas and diy options until it's perfect enough I'm convinced I should throw down money.
So expect a bunch of links to furniture/design sites, gadgets I might be able to live without, lists of things I will buy if I still think it's a good idea by next tuesday, and plenty of progress reports where I try to explain that most of my goals are too lofty or stupid or unattainable.
It's a very personal project, so unless we have the exact same tastes, I'm not sure this would appeal to you.
But it's got a great name, right?

Things I Want To Accomplish
Tasteful Accomodations:
- Keeping the apartment clean.
- Move into a manageable one bedroom.
- Organization Organization Organization.
- Furniture that doesn't look so obviously college
- All those little accents that make a home look semi-polished.
- Streamline Media Center so it's more remotes and less cable switching.
Nurture Creative Outlet:
- Upholstery class.
- Buy that sewing machine and finish project curtains.
- Finish knitting project started in 2002. (no lie)
- Other DIY projects as I imagine them.
Travel:
- Nashville.
- New York.
- Las Vegas.
- Vancouver.
- Funky Town.
Fitness:
- Learn to appreciate salads.
- Take lunch to work. Or at least healthy snacks to combat free cake.
- Try plenty of new routines to stay well-balanced and challenged.
- Couch to 5K
- Hot Yoga
- Ball Pilates
- X Factor (? is that still around)
- Something I will do while traveling. Fitness dvd? Running? Swimming?
Financial Balance:
- Buying things is great. Buying tons of crap not worth remembering is not.
- Track purchases more vigilantly so that I can save up for these bigger projects.
- The added financial security won't be bad either.
